Ms Elizabeth Aina Egharevba is one of the two corporate nominees for the 2013 Class of the MMS plus’ Woman of Fortune Hall of Fame. This is a feat that underscores her impact to the society and leadership delivery. A highly pro-active, focused and versatile team player, with over 25 years of professional experience in Maritime Technology, Shipping Transport and Port Managerial Administration, she is an excellent, strategic self-starter, with proven track record in the management of both human and material resources. She became the first female Executive Director of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) in 53 years history of the authority, having held the position of ED, Marine and Operations between November, 2007 and December, 2011. This was a position earned as evidence of effective hard-work that punctuated her career as a civil servant.

Born in April 21, 1956, she obtained a Bachelor of Education Degree in English and Literature from the University of Benin. Her restlessness to improve herself and add value to the society got her into taking a series of professional courses in Shipping and Port Management, International Marketing and Shipping Brokerage having gained employment with NPA after a stint as a lecturer. Today, she is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Amiable Consultancy and Logistics Services Ltd, but her exploit as ED, M&O in NPA still speaks for her. Her role in the conflict of appropriate port charges in the maritime industry and tireless efforts to make the port access roads free of traffic jam, through the provision of truck-holding bays endeared her to Nigerians, but in particular the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) that nominated her in place of their resourceful female members.

According to the Stallion, “I accept the award and promise that the qualities identified in me during my years of public service, will be upheld even in my private assignments.”

Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you a Stallion of impact, Elegant Elizabeth as a member of 2013 Class of MMS Plus’ Woman of Fortune Hall of Fame. She is Hall of Famer Elegant Elizabeth.

It is unbelievable yet a reality steering on our faces. With the determination, motion and suavity of a Scorpio, Mrs. Uju Catherine Ifejika has established seven functional companies in five years, with offices in Nigeria, Ghana and United States of America.
Born on October 28th 1959, Mrs. Ifejika studied at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria where she obtained a Diploma in Law and LLB (Hons.) in 1985 and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1986.

As a believer in doing your best wherever you find yourself, her best endeared her to the Management of Texaco Nigeria Plc(now Chevron Oil Nigeria Plc), where she had her one year National Youth Service in the Marketing Department, as she was subsequently employed as a staff in 1986/87. That was the beginning of a flourishing career that spanned 20 years as she rose from being a junior Counsel in 1987 to the rank of the Acting Chief Counsel of the Downstream Company arm of Texaco Group in 1991.

In July, 1997, She was appointed Company Secretary and Manager, Public and Government Affairs. But following the mastery of her brief, in 2003 her Government and Public Affairs portfolio was expanded to cover Cameroon, Togo, Benin Republic, Cote D’Ivoire, and Congo.
She held these positions until in September 30, 2007 when she took an early retirement, having dutifully served the company for 20 years. This is typical of Scorpios.

Having amassed wealth of experience in Texaco Group via seminars, conferences, courses both from within and outside the country, they came handy in the formation of Brittania-U Nigeria Limited in October,2007. She has been steering the Exploration & Production (E&P) Nigerian Company as the first female Chairperson and CEO of an Upstream E&P Company in Nigeria.

Mrs. Ifejika has led the company through an era of historic landmark achievements in the Nigerian Oil and Gas sector, having made laudable industry progress and achievements in the company’s first project-OML 90 Ajapa Field Phase 1 development.

As a proponent of strict project control, she steered and managed the drilling of three wells, the design, fabrication and delivery of a custom-built a 10,000 per day production facility owned by the company within a record time of seven and half months and produced first oil all in seventeen months; a feat yet to be equaled by any other company in the sector.

Under her leadership, Brittania-U has established other(six) subsidiaries which she equally chairs and has grown the company within less than 4 years of its operation to a multinational company from a local player with asset base in excess of $5 billion Dollars.

Happily married with children, she is a mother and places much value on motherhood and this explains why she adopted three children just one week from their birth.

Ladies and gentlemen, Hall of Famer Utilitarian Uju is a rounded personality who has impacted her environment tremendously and remains an icon of hope for generations. You are welcome to the 2013 Class of MMS Plus’ Woman of Fortune Hall of Fame.

The saying that ‘what men can do women can do better’ could be seen to be applicable in the working life of Mrs. Lawretta Odawulu, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of Odic Electrical Company Limited.

She has demonstrated an infectious leadership and managerial skill in turning around the fortunes of the company which started as a trading company years back under the leadership of her late husband. She led the company to commence the production of one of the first indigenous brands of electrical wires and telecommunications cables with over a hundred employees to cater for.

Mrs. Odawulu is a product of Lagos State University and University of Ado-Ekiti, having obtained a Masters Degree in Educational Management, Planning and Policy as well as a Bachelor Degree in Home Economics, respectively. Mindful of the enormity of the responsibility before her, she has attended numerous conferences on Leadership and Management both within and outside the country.

With her firm belief in the effective delivery of result as against the usual hardwork, Mrs. Odawulu has positioned the Odic brand of wires and cables as safety and standards conscious products in Nigeria and West Africa with foreign technical partners.
Lawcious Lawretta has threaded where many people could not and entrenched her foot-prints in her area of operations, with visible value in the society. This is a feat that earned her a place in the 2013 Class of MMS Plus’ Woman of Fortune Hall of Fame as a role model.

We welcome Lawcious Lawretta into the Hall of Fame.

Nigeria’s Nobel Laureate Prize winner, Prof. Wole Soyinka said in his “Jero and Metamorphosis” that ‘there are eggs and there are eggs’. Indeed, there are women and there are women. And this expression captures the personality of Mrs. Kofo Olugbesan, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer(CEO), Good Intentions Services Ltd., a Lagos based firm engaged in general maritime services

She is a woman of many firsts, with hard work, selflessness and integrity as the hallmark of her career and business life. She retired from the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS)as the first female Assistant Comptroller General(ACG) with record breaking performances in a world dominated by the malefolk. She became the first woman to be appointed Customs Area Administrator; first woman to be recognized by HER MAJESTY Customs and the United States Customs (DEA)for Drug Interdiction efforts in Nigeria; first woman to win the Ministerial Award as the Head of the Best Area in the Federation in the year in 1984 and the first woman to author a book on smuggling titled, “Smuggling, The Crime, The Law,” among others.

She was found worthy of being one of the wise women selected by the late Maryam Babangida to serve in the committee that mid-wifed the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and subsequently participated in the formulation of the National Policy for Women in 1992.

Her experience from the management of the Drug Unit at MMIA, Ikeja, between 1983 and 1987, came handy in her Memo presented through the Federal Ministry of Finance to the Council of Ministers on the need to establish the National Drug Enforcement Agency which was later established and called National Drug Law Enforcement Agency(NDLEA).

Right from the early days of her career in NCS, to her consequent retirement and qualification as a Barrister in Law, she has exuded an aura of calm and an underlying steely sense of resolve that no doubt propelled her to the heights of her career in the service and beyond.
Kofoworola Olugbesan, born to the Laja dynasty of Lagos, took advantage of her parental value for education and excelled academically in Science, Law and Tax Administration from the University of Lagos, Nigeria Law School and University of Los Ageles respectively.

Not tired of rendering selfless service to the nation, she contested for the Lagos state’s Central Senatorial District position.
She is currently a Director of BEECON Ltd as an investor in Bitumen Exploration and an Executive Director of the Institute of Customs Agents Affairs and Conflict Resolution as well as the Chairman of Apapa Community Security Trust Fund.
It is obvious that Mrs. Olugbesan is a bundle of knowledge with a distinguishing quality as INTEGRITY which is a factor that has earned her a place in MMS Plus’ Woman of Fortune Hall of Fame.

We welcome Keenly Kofo into the Hall of Fame.

Chief (Mrs.) Alaba Oluwaseun Lawson, the Iyalode of Yorubaland, means different things to different people , but has eloquently beamed herself as a beacon of hope, educationist, philanthropist, industrialist, community leader, opinion leader and a tower of strength for womanhood.

Born in 1951, she founded LAWSON’S INTERNATIONAL PRIVATE SCHOOL in 1977 one year upon return from England for Studies. Today, the little mustard seed has grown into the LAWSON’s GROUP OF SCHOOLS made up of different schools.

The contributions of Iyalode Alaba Lawson in the area of Commerce and Industry are no less outstanding. She became the President of the Abeokuta Chambers of Commerce in 1995 and it was during her tenure that she was able to secure a permanent building known as the Commerce House as secretariat for ABEOCCIMA from the Ogun State Government. She also helped to start the OPIC Kajola International Market.

Currently, she is the President of Odu’a Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines & Agriculture(ODU’ACCIMA) and a Deputy President of NACCIMA.

In recognition of her outstanding contributions to the propagation of Yoruba culture, she has honoured with quite a number of chieftaincy titles, prominent among which are the Otun of Oko; the Asiwaju Iyalode of Egbaland and the most recently the Iyalode of Yorubaland by H.R.M. Oba Lamidi Adeyemi Iku Baba Yeye, the Alaafin of Oyo Kingdom.

Without any equivocation, Iyalode Alaba Lawson’s strongest point however is in the area of philanthropy especially as it concerns the grass-root and the under-privileged. She not only awards scholarships to indigent but brilliant students on a yearly basis, she founded the Iyalode Egba Foundation, a non-profit making organization that caters for women in general and seeks to assist them economically, socially and morally.

She is mostly seen by members of the grass-root as someone with a high sense of justice, fair play and empathy following which she is the matron to a lot of societies which includes , the Butchers; Blacksmiths; Welders and Iron Benders; Palm Oil Sellers; Fresh Fish Sellers; Herbs and Roots Sellers and the Ogun State Union of Journalists, among others.

Just a couple of weeks ago, she was honoured as Woman of Integrity by Fortune magazine.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Iyalode Alaba Lawson is no doubt a role model and deserves a place in MMS Plus’ Woman of Fortune Hall of Fame. And as a double honour she is a member of the 8 – member Governing Council of the Woman of Fortune Hall of Fame. We present to you Hall of Famer Iyalode Alaba Lawson.

“When success adorns the garb of humility it shines with greater lush”. This timeless anonymous quote, aptly captures the resplendent persona of a profoundly cerebral, mercurial, entrepreneurial, professional and sociable twenty-first century amazon, Barrister (Mrs.) Patience Dappa.

A lawyer and administrator of over two decades, ‘Pat’, as fondly called by family, friends and colleagues in corporate Nigeria, is currently, the company secretary, Legal Adviser and Executive Director (Properties) of the octopodal, high octane player in the Oil and Gas (downstream)sector, Masters Energy, Oil and Gas Group.

Her cerebral acumen is a product of her enviable submission to an ever burgeoning quest for knowledge, crystalysing in an intimidating resume, that include, Masters in Humanitarian Law and Refuge Studies; Masters of Law; Senior Management Programme Course of the Lagos Business School; Post-Graduate Diploma in Shipping and Maritime Law obtained from London Metropolitan University, among others.

Barrister (Mrs.) Patience Dappa is a member of the prestigious Chartered Institute of Arbitrators of Nigeria. An astute manager of man, material and resources, she acquits herself, creditably, as stickler for thoroughness, due diligence and corporate governance.
Pacific Pat is a quintessential change and growth agent, who is unabashedly committed to the conscious agitation for greater involvement of women in political leadership in all tiers of government in Nigeria.

Ladies and Gentlemen, we welcome Pacific Pat to the 2013 Class of MMS Plus’ Woman of Fortune Hall of Fame.
