Mrs. Jean Chiazor Anishere holds both an LLB and LLM degree in Law from the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University, IIe Ife and the University of Lagos, Akoka. Called to the Nigerian Bar in 1986, Mrs. Anishere was sworn as Notary Public in 1990 by the late Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon. Justice Mohammed. She veered into Maritime Law practice later, after taking course in Oxford, England, and a certificate in Shipping, from the Cambridge Academy of Transport, UK, including a Master degree in Masters degree on Transport Management (MTM), from the Ladoke Akintola University in Ogbomosho. T

She kicked off her career in Maritime law at the chambers of Olisa Agbakoba Associates, where she rose to become the Managing Solicitor. Her legal career has also been enriched with her stint at the Lagos State Ministry of Justice, where she served between 1988-1989. She was Solicitor in the law firm of Jane Afolabi & Co., Head of Chambers, Bayo Kehinde & Co., and currently, Principal Counsel, Jean Chiazor & Co. (Ofianyi Chambers),

For hard work and strong social commitment credentials, she has won many laurels. Between 1997 – 1998, Chiazor received the International Woman of the year award the International Biographical Centre of Cambridge – England. In 2005, the same organisation awarded her the International Professional award, amongst others. Mrs Anishere has served as the Maritime Legal Consultant to the House of Representatives Committee on Maritime Transport, in addition to providing training to the first set of the Cabotage Enforcement Officers for the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA). She was instrumental in the setting up of the Maritime Desk in some Nigerian commercial banks. A member of the Nigerian Bar Association, Nigerian Chamber of Shipping, International Bar Association, Nigerian Maritime Law Association, and founding member and President, Women in Shipping and Trading Association (WISTA-NIG).
